Scientific Strategy

Home Scientific Strategy

The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network believes that progress against pancreatic cancer will be made most quickly with a strategy that includes increasing funds available for researchers and creating shared tools and resources useful to the scientific community. The primary goal of our scientific strategy is to accelerate the discovery of early detection methods and effective therapies in pancreatic cancer.

Research funding drives scientific discovery. Simply put, when research funds are available, scientists have the motivation and resources to test hypotheses and make breakthroughs towards a cure.
We advocate for increased federal funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the largest funder of biomedical research in the U.S., through activities led by our Government Affairs Department.
We provide private research funding directly to scientists through a competitive peer-reviewed grants program.

The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is uniquely positioned to offer collective tools and resources for the pancreatic cancer scientific community at-large. Through our extensive personal contact with researchers, clinicians, patients, and caregivers, we understand the needs and challenges faced from all perspectives.
We continue to work together with the National Cancer Institute, researchers nationwide, and other pancreatic cancer organizations to maintain the Pancreatic Cancer Research Map, a comprehensive list of investigators and research projects relevant to pancreatic cancer.
