On August 4, 2016, my amazing husband was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer at the VERY young age of 29. The tumors consumed most of his liver and the head of his pancreas. Over the last couple of years we have had many celebrations and luckily only two setbacks. His liver is now tumor free, and the tumor on his pancreas is only 17mm. He is still going strong with treatments every other week, and lives life to the fullest on the weeks when he is not receiving treatment. Our daughter, who was six at the time of his diagnosis, is now eight years old, is so strong and is such an advocate for pancreatic cancer! She soon will start her own journey that will last the rest of her life of being screened for pancreatic cancer because he was diagnosed with advanced cancer so early in life. But with our network of support, I know she’ll be stronger on the other side because of it.
