THE PANCREATIC CANCER ACTION NETWORK LAUNCHES NATIONAL CORPORATE CHAMPIONS PROGRAM

Tempur-Pedic® is the First Cause Champion to Launch a National Product Campaign

EL SEGUNDO, CA – (November 10, 2009) – The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network has launched a national Corporate Champions Program and reached a major milestone with Tempur-Pedic signing on for a national product campaign featuring a limited edition My Tempur-Pedic Teddy Bear®. The Tempur-Pedic Hugs Back campaign runs from October 15th to December 27th and all net proceeds of the sales of the co-branded teddy bears will be donated to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s National Corporate Champions Program is designed to increase awareness of the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the United States and raise funds to support the programs and services of the organization through national cause marketing and sponsorship agreements with corporations.

“The Tempur-Pedic Hugs Back campaign represents an important step for the future of our Corporate Champions Program and we are eternally grateful to Tempur-Pedic for their incredible commitment to our cause,” stated Brian Doremus, Director of Corporate Relations at the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. “This campaign will serve as a foundation to build broader national corporate support needed to change the deadly course of this devastating disease”.

Experts project the number of people afflicted by pancreatic cancer will significantly increase over the coming years. With the support of corporations and individuals, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network can rapidly increase the amount of funds raised for research into early detection methods, effective treatment options and ultimately a cure for this devastating disease.

“On behalf of Tempur-Pedic, we are proud to support the mission of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and give back to a community that urgently needs our help to ensure progress is made,” stated Todd Miller, Vice President of Retail Sales, Tempur-Pedic North America.

Pancreatic cancer has the highest mortality rate of all major cancers with a five year survival rate of just 5 percent. According to the American Cancer Society, in 2009, more than 42,000 people will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the United States, and over 35,000 will die from the disease.

Other committed corporations aligned with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network include Z Gallerie, who since 2003 holds an annual awareness campaign during National Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, and Paul Mitchell Schools, Wesley Allen Beds, Protect-a-Bed and Mattress Firm, among others.
