EL SEGUNDO, CA – (January 15, 2010) – The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network has made it to the final round of Chase Community Giving campaign on Facebook where the top prize for the winning charity with the most votes is one million dollars. The voting period is from today thru January 22, 2010. Visit www.vote2cure.org to cast a vote and learn more about the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Voters must have a Facebook account to vote.
Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the United States and has the highest mortality rate of all major cancers with 95% of patients dying within five years of diagnosis. Last year, pancreatic cancer claimed the lives of over 35,000 Americans including actor Patrick Swayze, NCAA President Myles Brand and NBA Hall of Fame coach Chuck Daly. Pancreatic cancer is one of the few cancers for which the survival rate has not improved substantially over the past 30 years largely due to lack of federal funding for the disease.
The staggering statistics demonstrate why each vote for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is vital in this campaign. The one million dollar prize money would help the organization bolster its research grant portfolio to fund innovative research that could lead to early detection methods and better treatment options currently lacking for patients.
