November 17 is World Pancreatic Cancer Day

Wage Hope as part of our Proclamations Campaign

Join us in spreading awareness and calling for increased federal research funding for pancreatic cancer in your community!

By encouraging local government officials to issue proclamations in support of World Pancreatic Cancer Day on November 17, you are committing to rewriting the future for this disease and honoring those impacted by it in your community.

What Are Proclamations?
Proclamations are a way for government entities to officially recognize issues that are important to the community they represent. While they do not carry the force of the law, they are useful as tools to build awareness for specific issues.

Government officials are willing to issue proclamations related to pancreatic cancer because they recognize that the disease impacts every community. As a result, we see the number of proclamations and volunteers involved in the campaign grow every year.

Because they are not actually laws that remain “on the books,” they have to be requested each year from local, county and state governments across the country.

Proclamations also provide additional actions to increase awareness through local events and media opportunities. But the first step is securing the proclamation.

How YOU Can Help
It’s easy and no experience is required. We provide you with a toolkit that includes all the materials you need to secure a proclamation as well as other actions to engage volunteers and build awareness in your community.

We can’t do it without you! Ready to make a difference in the lives of patients by turning your state purple? Email us at advocacy@pancan.org with your name, city and state to let us know you’re interested in spreading awareness in your community this November!

JOIN US

Use the map below to see if any municipalities in your state are in the process of issuing a proclamation. If the proclamations process has begun in your state, we will connect you with other volunteers and actions in your area.

Questions or concerns? Please contact the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s proclamations campaign team at advocacy@pancan.org.
