THE PANCREATIC CANCER ACTION NETWORK APPOINTS PETER KOVLER TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
EL SEGUNDO, CA – (July 7, 2009) – The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, the only national organization creating hope in a comprehensive way through research, patient support, community outreach and advocacy for a cure, today announced Peter Kovler has been appointed to the organization’s board of directors effective immediately. Kovler is currently the Director of the Marjorie Kovler Philanthropic Fund and Chairman of the Board the Blum-Kovler Foundation. He is also the Chairman of the Board for the Center for National Policy and founder of Chicago’s Kovler Center for Victims of Torture.
“Peter brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s board of directors and will be a valued new advisor as we continue to move the organization forward,” stated Jason Kuhn, Chairman of the Board.
“The work being done by the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is crucial in the fight against this deadly disease, which claimed the life of my mother in 1970,” Kovler said. “I am thrilled to join the board of directors in memory of my mother and am dedicated to ensure the organization meets the urgent needs facing the pancreatic cancer community, from advancing research to supporting patients and their families.”
Kovler lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife, Judy.
Kovler was appointed to the board of directors along with Laurie MacCaskill and Jai Pausch. They join president and CEO, Julie Fleshman and members Stephanie Davis, Tim Ennis, Dr. Stevan Holmberg, and Cynthia Stroum.
