THE PANCREATIC CANCER ACTION NETWORK APPOINTS LAURIE MACCASKILL, A
THREE YEAR PANCREATIC CANCER SURVIVOR, TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

EL SEGUNDO, CA – (July 7, 2009) – The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, the only national organization creating hope in a comprehensive way through research, patient support, community outreach and advocacy for a cure, today announced the appointment of Laurie MacCaskill to the organization’s board of directors effective immediately. Laurie was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2006 and has been an active volunteer and advocate for the organization.

Laurie has an extensive background in advertising working with major publications including Time, Newsweek, Sports Illustrated and US News and World Report and J. Walter Thompson advertising agency. She also co-owned a commercial design firm, sold residential real estate, worked in a fine art gallery specializing in modern and contemporary masters, and worked for a period with Fortune 500 company executives on honing their communication skills.

“We are thrilled to welcome Laurie to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s board of directors,” stated Jason Kuhn, Chairman of the Board. “Laurie has been a tremendous voice for the pancreatic cancer community by advocating for increased federal funding for research and providing hope to others battling this disease. She will be a great addition to the board.”

“The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network has served as a tremendous source of support for me and I am excited to be a part of the organization in this new capacity utilizing both my personal experience with the pancreatic cancer and my professional background to help advance the mission of the organization,” MacCaskill said.

MacCaskill and her husband, Paul, split their time between Los Angeles and Aspen. She is passionate about furthering preventative health, wellness and nutrition causes. She was one of the founding board members of the Aspen Center for Integral Health and volunteers with The Colleagues in Los Angeles and is Chairman of the National Committee for the Performing Arts with the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

MacCaskill was appointed to the board of directors along with Peter Kovler and Jai Pausch. They join president and CEO, Julie Fleshman and members Stephanie Davis, Tim Ennis, Dr. Stevan Holmberg, and Cynthia Stroum.
