Caregiver Story: Tracy Herter

09/10/2013
My husband, Craig, and I were at an assembly, where over 100 students were donating their hair for cancer patients, when we got the call from the doctor telling us that Craig had stage IV pancreatic cancer, which means he is not a candidate for surgery.  Craig is definitely my superman; he just finished his 10th 3-day chemotherapy treatment.  He has had over 30 days of chemotherapy over the past five months and has had only a few side effects, including neuropathy in his hands and feet and a little nausea.  He also seeks acupuncture on a weekly basis.  He is not receiving other medications beyond chemotherapy, acupuncture and some herbs that our acupuncturist recommended.  His faith is unwavering.  His tumors have shrunk over 50% and his cancer marker has decreased from 10,000 to 237.  We live with more intention, we laugh and love harder than ever before.  We are alive.  We trust in God to guide us to where we need to be.  Faith is the foundation of our treatment.  We take every day as a gift and pray for a cure.  May God bless you all!
