“I feel strongly that it's my mission to be an advocate, a voice, because so many pancreatic cancer patients don't get the opportunity to do so. So many wonderful people have come into my life, whom I never would have met otherwise. It fills my heart with joy when new volunteers say ‘I want to become part of this group, and make a difference, like you are!’ Our affiliate has made an impact building awareness, fund raising, and equally important, creating a real community for survivors, families and friends.”

PurpleStride Washington, D.C. 2014

PurpleStride Washington, D.C. 2014 presented by The Eileen McCarthy Gallant Family was a huge success! We had nearly 4,300 participants, 318 teams, and more than 100 volunteers join us on Saturday, June 14. Together we were able to raise $712,000 for the fight against pancreatic cancer.

We'd like to thank our presenting sponsor, The Eileen McCarthy Gallant Family, along with all of our other sponsors. Your support truly made an impact in the success of this event. We'd also like to thank the event emcee, Jummy Olabanji, and The Fabulous Bel Airs, who provided on-site entertainment.

PurpleLight Washington, D.C. 2013

Washington D.C. went purple on October 27, 2013 for PurpleLight National Vigil for Hope. Family and friends of those touched by pancreatic cancer came together to gain both comfort and encouragement by illuminating purple glow sticks as they heard their loved ones’ names read aloud. Joined by nearly 20,000 participants in more than 80 communities across the country, this marked the largest participation in PurpleLight history and helped kick off National Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.

Photos will be posted at www.purplelight.org when they are available.

There are many ways you can support the local fight and join other friendly volunteers committed to fighting pancreatic cancer. Whether you have ten minutes or are looking for a more extensive commitment, we have a role for you. Our volunteers focus on several key areas: raising general awareness, media, education and outreach to healthcare professionals, advocacy and fundraising and awareness events. Learn more.
