Nashville Affiliate Championed by:

“I feel strongly that it's my mission to be an advocate, a voice, because so many pancreatic cancer patients don't get the opportunity to do so. So many wonderful people have come into my life, whom I never would have met otherwise. It fills my heart with joy when new volunteers say ‘I want to become part of this group, and make a difference, like you are!’ Our affiliate has made an impact building awareness, fund raising, and equally important, creating a real community for survivors, families and friends.”

Local Highlights

Thank You Nashville Survivors!

The local affiliate would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to a few volunteers who have dedicated their time and efforts to the local cause.  These survivors work very closely with the affiliate and we would like to extend a sincere Thank You!

Thank you to Ryland Hoskins, Mary Maddox, Robert Adwell and Joe Whitney.

Nashville Attends Leadership Training

From March 22-24, 2012, Nashville's core volunteer roles made their way to Chicago to participate in Community Outreach Leadership Training.  There, they met with other volunteers from across the country to network and continue to make the necessary strides to fight pancreatic cancer. It was a great event filled with great ideas and goals for the new year!

PurpleStride Nashville 2012 Presented by Aetna

This inagural event took place in the heart of downtown Nashville at the Country Music Hall of Fame Park. There were activities for children such as carnival games and a face painter as well as a band providing entertainment after the event for all participants. The opening ceremonies had guest speakers including Founder, Pamela Acosta Marquardt, as well as Dr. Jordan Berlin.

This 5K timed run/walk has brought in a total of over $78,000 with over 600 participants in attendence.

PurpleLight Nashville 2013

Nashville went purple on October 27, 2013 for PurpleLight National Vigil for Hope. Family and friends of those touched by pancreatic cancer came together to gain both comfort and encouragement by illuminating purple glow sticks as they heard their loved ones’ names read aloud. Joined by nearly 20,000 participants in more than 80 communities across the country, this marked the largest participation in PurpleLight history and helped kick off National Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.

Photos will be posted at www.purplelight.org when they are available.
