Here’s How YOU Can Get Involved:

The new 111th Congress is hard at work and we need YOU to help focus their attention on the fight against pancreatic cancer.  Here’s how you can take action today:  

Ask your U.S. Representative to co-sponsor the Eshoo/Brown-Waite Pancreatic Cancer Research and Education Act (H.R. 745) OR thank them for their support!

Encourage your U.S. Representative to co-sponsor this historic and substantive legislation. If enacted, this bill would provide the National Cancer Institute (NCI) with the tools it needs to make true progress in the fight against pancreatic cancer.

1.  How can I tell if my U.S. Representative has co-sponsored the bill? 

Answer:  Click here and then enter your zip code; our system will automatically generate the correct letter to your Representative for you. The message will either be an e-mail asking the Representative to co-sponsor the bill (if they haven’t already done so), or a thank you acknowledging their support.  

2.  I’ve already sent a message.  When should I stop contacting them about this bill?  Aren’t they going to stop listening if I’m just saying the same thing over and over again? 

Answer:  Don’t stop!  As the old saying goes, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.  Our goal is to draw attention to this bill, so we need you, your friends and your family members to continue to contact your U.S. Representative about this bill.  The more e-mails you and your network of contacts send, the better.  And don’t sent the same message every time – personalize each one with your own story, your thoughts, and your hopes for this legislation.  If it’s personal, they’ll read it – every time.  

3.  My Representative has signed on – surely I can stop writing them, now, right?

Answer:  It’s critical that we thank Representatives who have signed on.  If you’ve already used the system to send a thank you note to your Representative on this bill in the last 2-3 months, then ask family and/or friends who live in the same area to send in thank you notes using our system too.  The easiest way to do this is by using the Tell a Friend feature on the action alert.
