Advocacy Day 2011 Agenda

 
The general schedule is as follows:

Sunday, June 12th, 2011
Arrive in Washington, D.C.

Please plan to arrive in Washington, D.C. by Sunday, June 12th, since mandatory training starts on Monday morning.

Monday, June 13th, 2011
8:30 AM - 9:45 AM: Orientation Session
An orientation session will be offered Monday morning before the general advocacy training begins. The orientation session is intended for newcomers and for those who feel they need a refresher course. Topics will include "Congress 101: What to expect during the Advocacy Day"; "How to become more involved with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network" and a question-and-answer period.

10 AM - 4:30 PM: Advocacy Training for All Participants
The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network will conduct training on everything you need to know to ensure that your meetings with your members of Congress are successful. The mandatory training will take place at the Crystal Gateway Marriott Hotel, located at 1700 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, VA 22202. Arlington, Virginia is a suburb of Washington, D.C.

Note: Attendance at the General Session is mandatory for all Advocacy Day participants (regardless of previous Advocacy Day experience). Dinner on Monday evening is on your own so that you can get to know your lobbying team and enjoy one of the great restaurants near the hotel.

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011
Advocacy Day

This is the big day! The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network will set up appointments for you to meet with your members of Congress on Capitol Hill. Transportation fare via the Metro mass transit system from the Crystal Gateway Marriott Hotel to Capitol Hill will be provided for each registered participant. PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO NOT BOOK A RETURN FLIGHT THAT LEAVES BEFORE 6:30PM ON TUESDAY out of Reagan National Airport or at 7:30 out of Dulles International or the Baltimore Airports.

Dress code: Please plan to wear business casual attire for the training on June 13th, and business or business casual attire with comfortable shoes for the meetings with Members of Congress on June 14th. Weather during June in D.C. may range from 60 to 85°F, so please make sure to pack an umbrella, clothing for layering and comfortable shoes.
