Coming to Advocacy Day?
Great! Don't forget to fill out our special-edition story form before Advocacy Day and bring 3 copies with you along with pictures! A successful Advocacy Day depends upon following up after the event as much as the event itself. We will collect these forms at the event and then hand-deliver them to legislators on Capitol Hill in July as a follow-up to your in-person visits. To print out the instructions and story form, click here. Can't come to Advocacy Day but still want to be involved?
Please participate and encourage others to participate in the National Call-In on Tuesday, June 22nd. The National Call-in is an opportunity for all Pancreatic Cancer Action Network supporters from across the country to join together and support your efforts on Capitol Hill. For more information, please click here.
The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network will be holding our Fourth Annual Advocacy Day from Monday, June 21, 2010 to Tuesday June 22, 2010 in Washington, D.C.
We invite all those who have been impacted by pancreatic cancer to join us in Washington, D.C., to learn how to advocate for increased research for this disease and to tell your members of Congress and their staff how important pancreatic cancer research funding is to you!
As part of the event, we will hold training sessions on how to conduct a meeting with your elected officials, so NO previous experience with advocacy is necessary. The primary requirement for participation is that you are excited about educating your elected officials about pancreatic cancer, our organization, and the need for more federal funding for pancreatic cancer research.
We also ask that you commit to a full day of training on Monday, June 21st. This means that you will need to arrive in D.C. sometime on Sunday and plan to attend meetings until 5:00pm on Tuesday, June 22nd. No registration fees are charged for this event.
This year, we have a special opportunity. On Saturday, June 19th, 2010, our National Capital Area Affiliate will hold its first annual PurpleStride D.C. event, which will take place on the National Mall. Please consider attending the walk and then staying for the Advocacy Day. For more information about PurpleStride D.C., please click here. Please note that you will need to register for each of the events - the walk and the Advocacy Day - separately.
| Note for Affiliate Advocacy Coordinators and Community Representatives: Your registration process is different. If you serve in one of these roles, please do not use this site to register for this event. Contact your Community Outreach Manager for the correct registration link. |
For anyone who is unable to join us at the Advocacy Day in person, we encourage you to become involved in the event by participating in our National Call-In.
