These sessions will thoroughly prepare you for your meetings on Capitol Hill on Tuesday. Your schedules for your congressional visits will be handed out at the end of the day. You will receive the detailed training schedule when you register at the event. **Please note that this training session is mandatory for all participants.**
Please feel free to enjoy a walk around the monuments, around close-by Georgetown or one of Washington, D.C.'s great restaurants on Monday evening!
Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010
6:30AM: Hotel Checkout, Breakfast & Packet Distribution - Location: Fairmont Hotel, Ballroom Foyer. Participants leaving DC on Tuesday will be able to check out in the morning and leave their luggage in a monitored storage area while they are at their congressional meetings.
8:00AM – 5PM: Meetings on Capitol Hill - Organized transportation will be provided from the Fairmont Hotel to Capitol Hill in the morning. Because meetings will end at different times, participants are on their own for transportation after their meetings conclude. (The nearest metro stop is the Capitol South metro station on the Orange and Blue lines and taxis are readily available on Capitol Hill)
- Due to Members of Congress' difficult and ever-changing schedules, the schedules for Congressional visits will not be distributed until the end of the training on Monday.
- It is VERY IMPORTANT that you do not book a return flight that leaves before 6:30PM from Washington National Airport or 7:30PM from Dulles International or Baltimore Washington Airports on Tuesday.
Please plan to wear weather-appropriate sportswear for PurpleStride D.C. on June 19th, business casual clothing for the training on June 21st, and business or business casual attire for the meetings with Members of Congress on June 22nd. Weather during June in D.C. may range from 60 to 85°F, so please make sure to pack an umbrella, clothing for layering and comfortable shoes.
