The general schedule is as follows:

Saturday, June 19th, 2010
The first annual PurpleStride DC will be held on June 19, 2010. We would love for you to join us for this very special event! For more information and to register for the walk, click here.

Sunday, June 20, 2010
(If you are arriving from out of town, please plan to arrive on Sunday, June 20th as the training sessions begin early on Monday morning.)
3:30pm-7pm: Registration - Location: Fairmont Hotel, Ballroom Foyer

Monday, June 21st, 2010
7:30AM – 10AM: Registration - Location: Fairmont Hotel, Ballroom Foyer.
7:30AM – 10 AM: Breakfast - Location: Fairmont Hotel, Ballroom Foyer.
8:30AM – 9:30AM: Orientation – Location: Fairmont Hotel, Executive Forum, Ballroom Level.
An orientation session will be offered for all newcomers and for those who would like a refresher course. Topics include: How to get further involved with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, what to expect during the Advocacy Day and time for questions and answers.
10AM – 5PM: General Training Sessions – Location: Fairmont Hotel: Grand Ballroom. These sessions will thoroughly prepare you for your meetings on Capitol Hill on Tuesday. We will go over our legislation, talking points you should use in your meetings, including new statistics, as well as provide time for you to practice your meetings. Your schedules for your congressional visits will be handed out at the end of the day. You will receive the detailed training schedule when you register at the event. **Please note that this training session is mandatory for all participants.**

Please feel free to enjoy a walk around the monuments, around close-by Georgetown or one of Washington, D.C.'s great restaurants on Monday evening!

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010
6:30AM: Hotel Checkout, Breakfast & Packet Distribution - Location: Fairmont Hotel, Ballroom Foyer. Participants leaving DC on Tuesday will be able to check out in the morning and leave their luggage in a monitored storage area while they are at their congressional meetings.
8:00AM – 5PM: Meetings on Capitol Hill - Organized transportation will be provided from the Fairmont Hotel to Capitol Hill in the morning. Because meetings will end at different times, participants are on their own for transportation after their meetings conclude. (The nearest metro stop is the Capitol South metro station on the Orange and Blue lines and taxis are readily available on Capitol Hill)

PLEASE NOTE:

Dress code: Please plan to wear weather-appropriate sportswear for PurpleStride D.C. on June 19th, business casual clothing for the training on June 21st, and business or business casual attire for the meetings with Members of Congress on June 22nd. Weather during June in D.C. may range from 60 to 85°F, so please make sure to pack an umbrella, clothing for layering and comfortable shoes.
