Members of the pancreatic cancer support group at Methodist Dallas
Medical Center , dressed as the Purple Posse, hosted a series of events
as part of Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. They kicked off November
with a party on the 1st, held an anniversary party for their group,
hosted a candlelight remembrance for those they've lost, and then
celebrated their survivors with a dinner on the 13th. Congratulations to
the Purple Posse!

Employees of Pharmatech, winners of last year's photo contest, went from
being "grape-ful" to "raisin awareness" and used their prize to purchase
wristbands, which they distributed throughout the year. Thank you
Pharmatech!

Residents of the Coles Landing Senior Center decorated purple balloons,
earning themselves a half-page article in their local paper with 7
photos and information about the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network! Way
to raise awareness!

YOUTH DIVISION |
1st place

Affiliate Coordinator Bill Arzt's 9-year-old daughter Kaylee organized
the creation of a banner at her school. Over 400 students in 1st through
3rd grades helped decorate the banner, which was displayed in their
school and will now be displayed at a local Wal-Mart. Students also made
posters and wore purple ribbons. Congratulations Kaylee!

Students at Mohonasen High School wore purple on November 16th and
included pancreatic cancer information in their school announcements
throughout the month. They also raised $600 for Stride for a Cure, a
PanCAN event in Albany, by collecting donations for ribbons, shirts and
wristbands. The photo shows only a fraction of the students who wore
purple on the same day. Way to go Purple People!

Pre-school teachers at the St. Anne's Hospital Educare Center had
children wear purple tie-dyed shirts on November 15th and created a
banner with the children's handprints. They continued the theme by
serving grapes and grape juice as their snack, and other classes
participated by decorating their rooms in purple and serving purple
snacks. Teachers and staff wore wristbands as well.

Kindergarten students at J.S. Pate Elementary School created a banner
that was displayed on a fence outside the school. Their teacher, Mrs.
Smith, dyed purple shirts for the class to wear on November 15th and
staff wore paper purple turkeys pinned to their shirts during the
school's Thanksgiving lunch.
