Breakout Sessions

Facing Risk Factors Head On – Gloria Peterson, PhD & Lynn Matrisian, Chief Science Officer
Understand the familial patterns and hereditary risk of pancreatic cancer as well as sporadic risk factors such as new-onset diabetes. Learn more about PanCAN's collaboration with the National Cancer Institute to use the link between new-onset diabetes and pancreatic cancer to accelerate progress for an early detection protocol.

Emerging Pancreatic Cancer Research (2 breakout rooms) – Dr. Anirban Maitra and Dr. Diane Simeone
Due to overwhelming demand, this session will be replicated in 2 sessions to accommodate a larger audience. Drs. Maitra and Simeone will each lead a session to give you an inside look at the developing landscape of pancreatic cancer research. From stromal disruption to targeted therapy to immunotherapy, researchers are tackling one of the world's toughest cancer from all angles.

Young Advocates – Natascha Martin, Training Manager
Young advocates have an important role during Advocacy Day, so we have a training session just for participants age 6 to 12. This session will introduce our advocacy program and prepare them for meetings on Capitol Hill in a fun and age-appropriate setting. Please note that children must be registered individually for Advocacy Day.
