Evening Host
JOEL MCHALE
The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is pleased
that Joel McHale has again returned this year to host
the 15th Annual An Evening with the Stars gala. We
remain grateful for his ongoing support.
Joel has personal connections to pancreatic cancer.
His beloved cousin Nick Schulz passed several years
ago from the disease, leaving behind a wife and four
children. Joel also recently lost his friend Conrad
Jacobson to it.
A talented actor and comedian, Joel stars as Jeff
Winger, a fast-talking lawyer whose degree has been
revoked, in the hit NBC comedy series,
Community.
In addition, Joel satirizes pop culture and current events
each week on E!’s
The Soup.
His quick wit and sharp comedic timing have made
The Soup
a pop-culture
phenomenon. He also performs his stand-up act around the country to sold-out audiences.
Joel recently appeared in Seth MacFarlane’s film
Ted,
which is a live-action tale of a boy and his teddy
bear. Joel stars opposite Mark Walhberg, Mila Kunis and MacFarlane, playing a charming, but sleazy,
boss to Kunis’ character. He also recently appeared in the films
What’s Your Number?
opposite Anna
Faris,
The Big Year
with Steve Martin, Jack Black and Owen Wilson, and a
Spy Kids
reboot with
Robert Rodriguez. Previously, Joel starred opposite Matt Damon in Steven Soderbergh’s comedic
thriller,
The Informant.
He also hosted the 2011 Independent Spirit Awards.
Born in Rome and raised in Seattle, Washington, Joel was a history major at the University of
Washington where he also was a member of their championship football team. In addition, Joel
received his M.F.A. from UW’s Actor’s Training Program. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Sarah,
and their two sons.
