EL SEGUNDO, Calif. U.S.A.
(March 7, 2005)— The Pancreatic Cancer Action
Network (PanCAN) will cosponsor the Pancreatic Cancer Symposium-Chicago
on April 8 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital to educate and raise
awareness about pancreatic cancer, the fourth leading cause of
cancer death. Patients, families, caregivers and healthcare professionals
are encouraged to attend. Other event collaborators include:
Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, Michael Rolfe Pancreatic Cancer
Foundation, the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of
Northwestern University, and the University of Chicago . PanCAN

in direct contact with the leading experts in the field of pancreatic
cancer,” said Julie Fleshman , president and CEO of PanCAN. “By
providing the most current information and conveying a message
of hope, we can improve the lives of people with pancreatic cancer
and eventually beat it.”
The all-day event is open to the public and will include continental
breakfast and lunch with presentations on such topics as the doctor-patient
relationship, an overview of PanCAN’s landmark PALS support
services, the current state of science in pancreatic cancer, a
team approach for managing side effects, the genetic links, treatment
combinations, dietary concerns and community involvement.
PanCAN will hold the Hope is on the Horizon Reception on the
evening of the symposium, April 8, in the same location at 6:30
p.m. The cost is $150 per person.
Space for these events is limited. For more information and to
