ACTOR KELSEY GRAMMER TO RECEIVE JACK BENNY
HUMANITARIAN AWARD
Honoree to Be Recognized Nov. 8th at “An Evening with the
Stars” Fundraiser & Gala During Pancreatic Cancer Awareness
Month
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. U.S.A. (Aug. 26,
2003) - The Pancreatic Cancer
Action Network (PanCAN) will present the Jack Benny Humanitarian
Award to actor Kelsey Grammer, a three-time Emmy Award winner for
his work playing Dr. Frasier Crane on NBC’s “Frasier.” PanCAN’s
Jack Benny Humanitarian Award was established to recognize the
extraordinary contributions of Jack Benny, who died of pancreatic
cancer in 1974. The award was established by Benny’s family
and is presented to a member of the entertainment industry whose
professional and personal accomplishments pay tribute to Jack Benny’s
memory. PanCAN is the first, national patient-based advocacy organization
for the pancreatic cancer community, including patients, families,
medical researchers and physicians.
Kelsey Grammer, a longtime admirer and fan of Jack Benny’s
style and wit, will receive the award during PanCAN’s “An
Evening with the Stars” on Nov. 8th. The black-tie gala,
which features celebrity guests, dining and entertainment, and
a silent auction, takes place during November’s Pancreatic
Cancer Awareness Month at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
The recipient of last year’s Jack Benny Humanitarian Award
was Robert Wuhl, creator, executive producer, and star of HBO’s
longest-running original series Arli$$.
